Adding the chat to your website
Copy one line of code to add your LucyIQ chat to any website as a pop-up your visitors can open.
What you'll get#
You can add your LucyIQ agent to any website with a single line of code. Once it's in place, a chat button appears on your site, and visitors can open it to ask questions and get answers from your content.
Before you embed#
Two things need to be set for your public chat to work:
- An authorised website URL. In Manage my Lucy → Knowledge, your Authorised website URL must be filled in. This is both where LucyIQ reads your pages and the site where your chat is allowed to appear. If it's blank, the public chat stays switched off.
- Public access turned on for the agent, if you want it available to visitors who aren't logged in.
Adding the code#
- In Manage my Lucy, open the embedding options.
- Choose whether you want the pop-up style (a chat button in the corner) or a full-window embed.
- Copy the single line of code and paste it into your website, just before the closing
</body>tag. Most website builders have a place to add code like this.
That's it — your chat appears on the next page load.
Changing how it looks#
Your chat's colours and layout come from the Appearance tab, and its wording from the Rules tab. Change them there and your live chat updates automatically — you don't need to copy the code again.
Good to know: the only time you'd re-copy the code is if you want to switch between the pop-up and the full-window styles.
Removing "Powered by LucyIQ"#
The "Powered by LucyIQ" label shows by default. On eligible plans you can choose to hide it in your settings.
